I’m going to tell you in 2 words why you should start sneaking up on your kids: Lifestyle Photography.  What the heck is that, you say?  In my own words, it’s the type of photography that captures a moment in complete authenticity (no posing) and the subject is often unaware that the camera is even on them.

They are the images that make you laugh out loud. The ones that take your breath away.  The ones that pull you right into the memory of that moment. Lifestyle photography is my passion and I want you to love it too.

Don’t get me wrong, I am equally in love with portrait photography.  But we’ll talk about that another day.

Today I want you to understand why you should sneak up on your kids…

It’s so you’ll remember how your kids used to climb the fence to talk to their buddies next door

How your niece looked drawing in the sand that afternoon of family vacation

How your daughter wiggled her first loose tooth far far away from anyone else (no one else could get near it)

What it was like for your nephew when baby brother was brought home

How Grandma basted your son in the sink like a turkey (he kinda is a turkey…)

How that afternoon at your sister’s annual ‘Summer Slam’ it poured rain – so we let the kids splash around in the puddles like, well like kids!

If taking pics is not your thing but you still want these memories for yourself – hire a photographer.  Don’t wait for the perfect time, do it now!

I’ve photographed these gorgeous girls 3 times now and I love how their mom just let’s them be themselves.  The trick every parent needs to know during one of these sessions is that the kids can do no wrong.  Just let them be.

Mom brought kites for them to play with…

They chased shadows

and raced to see who’s shadow was taller

They also chased a big pink ball

and hung from a tree

And while I got plenty of gorgeous shots of these girls with sweet faces

This is the one that made me laugh out loud, it’s actually my favorite.

When you tell kids to smile this is what you get.

So just let them be themselves.

Sneak up on them…and click away!
