Zipline. It’s one of those things you’ll find on most bucket lists and with good reason, it’s awesome!
For Jared and I it was Costa Rica. For the kiddos, it will be our backyard!
We happen to have the perfect set-up in our backyard for this. Although we don’t have one single tree (literally the only thing about this house I didn’t like) we have two clothesline poles that were just screaming for a purpose!
Now before you get any ideas, I prefer my dryer thank you very much.
Ahem. So we bought the supplies per this post from How Does She. Unlike them, we did not have any of the supplies laying around (which is shocking because sometimes it feels like I have EVERYthing laying around!). So we went to Ace and bought a dowel, the rope and pulley. We could have probably saved about $10 but we went a little more heavy duty on everything so for us the cost was right around $30.
I cut the dowel in half and then we drilled a 3/8″ hole through it to fit our rope. Then my husband worked his cowboy magic and tied some super cool knots (I actually think this is a sailor knot).
Then he did the same knot around the clotheline
In order to create the momentum needed we tied the other side lower on the pole so the rope angles down
And suddenly, you are superhero parents.
Jack on the other hand did it once and said “I don’t like that.”
My cautious little guy.
The adventurous one however, her face says it all
Wouldn’t you have LOVED this as a kid? What’s the coolest thing you’ve done for your kids?

Best. Mom. Ever.
Totally jealous!
Aww, thanks Andrew!
So long as no bigger kids get on there, those clothesline poles will be fine, and it looks absolutely awesome. Good job mom & dad!
