Oh California, you and your hypnotic coastline…can I just stay a little longer?

Needless to say I enjoyed my visit to Northern California. Even more than my surroundings, I enjoyed being a part of a photography workshop that forever changed the way I run my business, but even more importantly the way I see through my lens. This is the third and final family I was able to photograph and wow…just wow.

When I prepare for a session with a family I will have them fill out a brief questionnaire so that I can get to know them a little bit better. I want to know what makes them unique, what bonds them together so that I can capture their truth. Given that this was a workshop we didn’t have the opportunity to get to know the families but one thing I learned is that there are some things that are just universal…

The way a father adores a daughter.

How important it is to connect even amongst the chaos.

Mother/daughter…it’s inexplicable. It’s pure love. It’s discipline. It’s all consuming.

Laughter is a must.

Every. Single. Day.

Don’t forget to be carefree.

The way we mothers love our boys. There are never enough cuddles.

Just stop and breathe it all in. This is what it’s all about right here.
