Today was picture day for Grace.  Since the school pictures are only head shots I asked Grace to pose for a few of my own shots because let’s face it, you gotta see the outfit she chose from head to toe to get the full effect.

Am I right?

Also today, on the way home Grace told me that every day during choice time she picks Art, and that she will always pick art.

Why am I telling you this?  I have a point I promise.

I love this blog and the platform that it provides me both professionally and personally.  But let’s face it, you don’t care about the fact that Grace will choose Art every day during choice time.  And well, it was picture day for millions of kids out there – whoop dee doo.

Then there’s the privacy factor.  Some things should just be kept in the family, ya know?  Like there’s this picture that Grace drew the other day of Jared and….just kidding 🙂

On the other hand, these are details and small stories that matter to me, to us. I want the kids to know these things about themselves and Lord knows I’ll forget by next week.  While I wish I was still writing in beautiful leather journals the reality is I’m actually on my computer all day. So I decided to open an e-mail account in each of their names and start sending them letters so they’ll know the often overlooked details of their own story.

(***Note, the addresses ‘technically’ belong to Jared and I until the kids are 13 because of a Child Privacy Protection Act).

How fun will that be someday when they open up these email accounts and have hundreds of short but sweet letters from their family?

Of course by the time that happens email just might be obsolete but a Mom’s gotta try.

I don’t want to forget any of it. Not one bit.

***Another thing you might want to consider is purchasing the domain names of each of your children’s names.  No matter what their profession they may need them one day!
