Remember this guy from last year?  Well meet his zanier little cousin:

Mini‘ Upside Down Pumpin Man

You want one don’t you?

I’ve seen the upside down snowman before on Pinterest so as I was thinking about decorating for fall/Halloween this year I thought why not have our pumpkin man do a handstand?  I kept it easy on myself by using the mini pumpkins (I got a bag of these at Costco for $5.99 – amazing deal!) instead of trying to balance the heavy/awkward regular size.

I had my husband cut off the stem to flatten the bottom – they’re surprisingly tough!  Then I drilled a hole through each one.

I used a wooden skewer to secure them together.  I twisted the top (largest) pumpkin until it had just the right balance.  The tip of the skewer (colored with marker) became his nose and I had these sticky scrapbooking pearls that I colored black for the eyes and buttons.  I just cut out his boots from black construction paper. Arms and legs also skewers…twigs would be way cuter but I started this project a little too late at night and hunting the right ones down in the dark just wasn’t quite worth it 🙂

Not sure what his name is yet…I’m sure the kids will let me know when they wake up.  Stay tuned to see how he fits in to our seasonal decorating…
