There’s those milestones in life that we are all really good at documenting.
Newborn. First steps. First teeth lost. Getting on the bus to school. And then somehow…as our children start to grow, time seems to speed up and before you know it we are booking a Senior Photographer.
Well I’m here to remind you about the in between. Or as we like to call it: the “Tween”.
Sure, they’re no longer inherently adorable.
They might even be rolling their eyes at you, slamming doors, using acronyms that you have to Google…they’re likely to wake up one morning with two heads and the best you can do is lay low and say a quick prayer under your breath. BUT. But, I’m here to remind you that being a tween is HARD WORK.
They have new emotions that they have no idea what to do with. They have body parts that don’t quite fit their body yet. They are just trying to do their best to navigate this transition between being a child and a teen. And as awkward as it may be, it’s also beautiful.
Embrace the goofiness.
Let them have their serious moments.
Encourage playfulness and adventure
And despite the hurried lifestyle we live. Despite the fact that they now dodge your camera like a ninja. Despite the tough days where the tension outweighs the laughter…capture them.
These moments are just as precious as those first steps.
You will want to remember how you saw them. How they still gave you the gut check when you looked at them each day. How proud…
How beautiful. Unique.
So don’t miss out. Pick up your camera (or pick up your phone and call your photographer!) and document them NOW. Hurry up…before you know it you’ll be helping them fill out college applications (AHHH!).
